Periwinkle: A Sense of Place
Cayman Structural Group, LTD is proud to be a part of Periwinkle, a luxury home development, in the Grand Harbour community on Grand Cayman within walking distance to shops and restaurants and only a short drive to George Town and 7 Mile Beach.
Construction is set to begin Monday, September 4, 2017 on the islands first LEED certified community. LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification is a world wide recognized green building rating system. The ratings provide a structure for design and construction practices that create healthy, energy efficient, and cost-saving projects, or “green” buildings designed with greater sustainability in mind.
Periwinkle Luxury Home Construction
Periwinkle of the Cayman Islands is a $80 million development project that can expect to have all of the units completed by late 2018 or early 2019. In total there are 20 cottages, 28 courtyard town homes, 23 waterfront town homes, and 10 luxury villa homes planning for the community. A 60′ swimming pool and central clubhouse amenity are also planned for the project.

The LEED focused design and construction will lower utility bills for every home to an estimated $150, says Ryan Ostendorf, project manager, while attending the Periwinkle groundbreaking on August 30th, 2017. The community boasts features such as energy-efficient HVAC, LED lighting, low-flow plumbing, and solar power for the substantial savings homeowners will enjoy. Not only this, the community itself plans to utilize Solar power as the primary energy source for its streets, clubhouse and amenity sites, and docks.
No detail is overlooked in Periwinkle as LEED design stretches throughout each home inside and out including hurricane survival through common areas of the community with drought-resistant plants. These homes are expected to start at $500,000 and will top out around $1,000,000. Many jobs throughout the project will benefit the local economy. As construction begins 15-20 workers are expected to start and grow quickly into near 200 workers during peak construction.
